Storm system upgrades planned for Mission Heights neighbourhood

Apr 4, 2026 | 6:00 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is making early preparations to upgrade the storm system in the Mission Heights Area.

Tree clearing on the nearby slope is expected to take approximately one to two weeks in early April as crews prepare the site for construction.

The upgrades involve replacing the storm sewer from 76 Avenue and 103 Street to the outfall at Bear Creek to support long-term system performance.

The storm sewer will also be moved to a new alignment to reduce impacts to nearby properties during construction.

Once the work is wrapped up, a new asphalt connection will be added between 75A Avenue and the Muskoseepi Park trail system to improve access and connectivity.

While the work is ongoing, temporary trail closures will be in place at times, with detour signage directing pedestrians to alternate routes.

Anyone with questions regarding this project can contact the city at AccessGP at 311 or info@cityofgp.com.
