Trout Lake man arrested after reports of shots fired in community

Apr 6, 2026 | 12:00 PM

A 26-year-old resident of Trout Lake is awaiting his day in court in cells after a shots fired incident last week.

RCMP in Red Earth Creek say they received an anonymous report of the shots fired incident on March 31, 2026, just before 7:30 a.m. More reports came in from the public as the situation progressed, with a caller saying their friend had phoned them and locked themselves in a house because a person was shooting a rifle nearby at a residence.

Mounties arrived at the scene at 8:45 a.m., set up containment and attempted to call the suspect out. After two hours, RCMP were able to get the suspect to surrender himself to officers.

Eddie Nanemahoo was arrested and charged as a result of this incident with;

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a firearm without a license
  • Obstruct police

Nanemahoo was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody and is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 7, 2026.
