GP RCMP “commendation for selfless actions” according to ASIRT
Alberta’s Serious Incident Response Team has determined Grande Prairie RCMP members acted lawfully and should be praised for their actions on Nov. 10, 2025.
In ASIRT’S report, they say the Affected Person (AP) attended the the mother of his three children’s (CW 1) home on Nov. 9, 2025, and according to CW 1, AP “was trying to open the door to her house, but the deadbolt wasn’t budging,” AP then told her “I’m gonna shoot the deadbolt, if you don’t just open it,” so she did, depsite reminding AP that a no-contact court order was in place.
“She and the AP sat at the table for about five hours. The AP had a gun pointed at himself. He said he was going to kill himself that night, and that she had to watch him eat his last meal. Eventually, she went to check on her daughter and she passed out. The AP passed out on the couch,” according to CW 1’s witness interview.
The next day CW 1 then attempted to get her children out of the house by going to the park, and was successful until AP took her daughter and fled to his truck before pointing a firearm at CW 1 from his truck and demanding she get in with all the kids; “One of us is going to die. Get in the fucking vehicle. Get the kids and get in the fucking vehicle now. We are going to go to a park and we’re going to go play like a normal family,” said AP, according to CW 1’s interview.
