Curling: Ontario sweeps Masters titles, Sexsmith duo finishes second at U20 mixed doubles

Teams from Ontario won the men’s and women’s titles at the Canadian Masters Curling Championships that wrapped up over the weekend at the Grande Prairie Curling Centre.

Team Ontario, skipped by Bryan Cochrane, defeated Kurt Balderston’s Team Alberta 7-6 in the men’s final.

The Mary Chilvers team from Ontario beat Alberta, skipped by Glenys Bakker, 7-4 in the women’s final.

Saskatchewan won the women’s bronze. B.C won the men’s bronze medal.

U20 Mixed Doubles 

A Sexsmith duo finished second at the U20 Mixed Doubles Provincial Championship played in Calgary April 9-12.

Hayden Young and Robert Nelson lost the final, 9-2 in six ends to a team from Leduc and Edmonton.

The Kailey Sparks and Quinn Farmer team from Sexsmith lost 6-5 to Young and Nelson in the quarter-final round.

Two other teams from the Peace did not make the playoffs.
