Grande Prairie Storm end of season wrap-up
The Grande Prairie Storm’s season came to an end after a crushing 2-1 overtime loss in Game 7 of the North final on Tuesday, Apr. 14.
However, Executive Director Nicole Menzies said in a year-end interview with EGP, despite the loss, the team is so grateful for the community turnout this year. Breaking the AJHL single-game attendance record and fans supporting the team throughout their 24-game journey to a franchise home win record.
Menzies added that the Storm were also involved in a number of community initiatives and programs this year, that made her proud to be a part of the organization.
Moving forward, Menzies says theme nights and special activities will continue to be a part of their product, as they want each game to feel like it’s event, “and you can’t wait for the next game.”
Next season, Storm fans will see some new faces as multiple players will be moving on, including the on-ice leadership group; however, Menzies says fans can still expect a high-performing team next year, and the years to come.
With the off-season now underway for the hockey club, Menzies says she and the rest of the organization are already looking forward to seeing fans back at Bonnett’s in September and thanked the community, and their sponsors for a great 2025/26 season.
