Street sweeping underway in Grande Prairie

Apr 23, 2026 | 3:40 PM

With the arrival of spring, City of Grande Prairie crews are conducting winter clean-up operations, with street sweeping now underway.

The City says sweeping will start on main high traffic routes, before moving to collector and industrial roads, with residential neighbourhoods planned for later in the season.

This follows the same approach as snow removal, with Priority 1 roads first, before moving Priority Roads 2 and 3; With crews operating on weekdays only 16-hours a day.

Sweepers do move slowly, typically 5 to 10 km/h, so the City is asking drivers to use caution and give them room to operate.

The City adds that during operations, residents may see a wide range of equipment: street sweepers, water trucks, and a conveyor-style broom, as each method will depend on location.

As part of sweeping operations, local paths, walking trails in Muskoseepi Park, and grass medians along major corridors will also be cleared of all debris.
