Flood Alert cancelled for Town of Peace River
Although water levels remain elevated in the Peace River and it’s tributaries, a Flood Alert for the Town of Peace River is no longer in effect.
Imminent risk for flooding is no longer a concern according to town officials and the alert sent out by Alberta Emergency Alert on Thursday (April 23) afternoon was cancelled as of 9:49 a.m. on Friday, April 24.
Water flows in Heart River, a tributary of the Peace River, has decreased but there is still risk of ice jams forming within the boundaries of the town.
Town officials say that although there is no longer a risk of flooding, residents should still be prepared as conditions can quickly change.
