Peace Region locals part of 2026 National Championship win

Two girls from the Peace Region have the right to call themselves national champions.

Both Taylor Wasylchew and Kasey McLeod of Grande Prairie, were a part of the U18 Red Deer Chiefs’ 4-3 overtime win yesterday(Saturday, April 25) in Dieppe, New Brunswick, where they took down the Ontario representative, the Stoney Creek Sabres.

The Chiefs went undefeated throughout the tournament, finishing 4-0 through round-robin play, and claimed their first national title in program history.

In seven games, McLeod recorded three assists, while Wasylchew had two points with a goal.
