A member of the Grande Prairie Wrestling Club won two silver medals at the 2026 Canadian Wrestling Championships held over the weekend at the Design Works Centre.

Jaren Alaimoana took second in the men’s U19 110-kilogram category in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.

Teammate Hayden Cooke had fourth and sixth-place finishes; Ava-Jade Showalter had a fifth-place finish, and Troy Gustafson a sixth.

There is one more silver medal winner with a connection to the Peace.

Rian Vierling from Calgary’s Dinos Wrestling Club wound up second in the women’s U19 65-kilogram Greco-Roman category.

Rian’s mom is Christine Nordhagen.

Nordhagen is originally from Valhalla Centre. She was a six-time world champion and competed for Canada when women’s wrestling made its Olympic debut at the 2004 Games in Athens.
