Annual Highway cleanup

Alberta RCMP increasing highway patrols Saturday, May 2

Apr 30, 2026 | 3:45 PM

Over 12,000 youth will be cleaning up Alberta highways on Saturday, May 2.

Multiple youth clubs and programs, including 4H Clubs and Junior Forest Wardens, are expected to take part in the province’s annual highway clean-up, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., collecting garbage to raise funds for their organization.

Each group is supplied a designated area, with 1km per two participants, and $100 for their organization for every 1km cleaned.

“To prevent speeding in these areas,” Alberta RCMP says they will be conducting increased patrols and will be marking each area with caution signs.

Mounties are asking residents to slow down in these marked areas and be “aware of the added foot traffic.”

If the weather does not cooperate, an alternative date has been set for the following Saturday, May 9.
