“Should Alberta Ditch Canada?” billboards put up in Calgary, Edmonton

A political action group has launched a billboard campaign in Calgary and Edmonton that asks whether Alberta should separate from Canada.

Alberta Fights Back, which is registered as a third-party election advertiser with Elections Alberta, has put one billboard in both cities that displays the question, “Should Alberta Ditch Canada?”

The group says the goal of the campaign is to take the discussion directly to non-political Albertans, but political analysts say it’s a message of frustration over pipelines and equalization payments that won’t solve anything.

The ads will run until February 25th.
