Miles Steve Kuryvial
03 March 1937 – 07 May 2026
It is with heavy, but peaceful hearts we announce the passing of Miles Steve Kuryvial on May 7, 2026, at the age of 89.
Miles leaves behind his wife Doreen, daughters, Loralee (Duane) Robertson and Karen (Corey) Gay, grandsons Carter (Sapphire), Cole, Callan & Owen and great-granddaughter London. Miles also leaves to mourn brother-in-law Darrel (Darlene) Bekkerus and sister-in-law Tess Kuryvial and their families.
Miles grew up on a farm in Cranford, Alberta. He met Doreen while both were working in Red Deer. Miles became District Agriculturist in Spirit River then Grande Prairie until his retirement. They lived outside of La Glace for many years before moving to Edmonton in 2004.
Miles was a proud Papa who loved to joke & tease. He had a twinkle in his eye and enjoyed hearing all about his grandsons daily life, especially sports and school.
Miles most enjoyed morning coffee with his buddies, solving the world’s problems each day. He spoke fondly of this morning routine. Miles enjoyed all sports & enjoyed cheering on his grandsons’ teams.
Miles was predeceased by his parents, Anna & Steve Kuryvial, brother Jerry Kuryvial and in-laws Harvey and Dorphy Bekkerus.
At Miles’ request there will be no funeral service. He was not a man that enjoyed the spotlight. Miles had a huge soft spot for kids and people going through challenging times. Donations to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Children’s Mental Health unit or Amy’s House would be a way to honour his memory for those wishing to do so.
