Wildfire southeast of Grande Prairie being held at five hectares

UPDATE – May 22: The fire is now listed as under control.

Firewatchers say a wildfire that started Wednesday night, 17 kilometres southeast of Grande Prairie, is being held at five hectares.

Officials are crediting the “quick response from firefighters and support staff.”

Ground crews, equipment and helicopters will continue working on putting it out.

No buildings or other infrastructure are threatened by the blaze.

The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area remains high.
