Seniors’ Week Celebration taking place in June
The City of Grande Prairie will be kicking off Seniors’ Week next month with a celebration next Monday.
Presented by the City and the Grande Prairie and Area Council on Aging, the ‘Aging Well Together: Seniors’ Week Celebration’ will mark Seniors’ Week’s 40th anniversary in Alberta and will allow residents of all ages to connect with local organizations, learn about local support programs, and enjoy a free barbecue lunch.
The event will also feature a community art showcase with participants sharing what aging well looks like from their perspective in different mediums; including paintings, quilting, and woodworking.
“We’re honoured to host the provincial launch of Seniors’ Week in partnership with the Government of Alberta,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “Together with the Grande Prairie and Area Council on Aging, this event reflects our commitment to support community empowerment and livability for people at every stage of life. Seniors’ Week is a time to celebrate, and we are looking forward to welcoming the whole community to be part of this special event.”
