Sunday Championship Final Heat set for 2026 Grande Prairie Stompede
It was a cloudy Saturday evening for the fourth night of professional chuckwagon racing at the 2026 Grande Prairie Stompede.
At the end of the night, it was Jason Glass that secured the day money with a penalty-free run of 1:15.63. His time was 14 one-hundredths of a second quicker than Layne Flad, who finished second on the night. Evan Salmond, Obrey Motowylo, and Luke Tournier rounded out the top five fastest runs.
Once the dust settled, Sunday’s $40,000 Championship Final Heat was set. Defending GP Stompede champion; Obrey Motowylo, topped the four-day aggregate with a time of 5:03.19, earning the top qualifying position. In addition to leading the standings, Motowylo will receive the Ralph Vigen Memorial Award and the use of a GMC pickup truck for a year, courtesy of Summit Fleet.
The three other chuckwagon drivers racing for the $40k will be Darcy Flad, Troy Dorchester, and Luke Tournier.
