Nearly 80 per cent of major crops seeded in the Peace
According to the latest Alberta Crop Report by AFSC, seeding progress across the province advanced significantly thanks to dry conditions, before widespread rain brought surface and sub-surface soil moisture ratings back up.
As of June 2, seeding progress for the Peace Region sat at 78 per cent, with 84.7 per cent spring wheat, 69.2 per cent barley, 65.5 per cent of oats, 74.7 per cent canola, and 91.4 per cent of dry peas.
This is the furthest behind region in the entire province, as well as for the five-year (93.4%) and ten-year (88.9%) averages for the area.
Provincially, all major crops in Alberta are 92.4 per cent are seeded as of the date of the report.
