City Centre sign greenspace undergoing upgrades

Jun 9, 2026 | 1:28 PM

The City of Grande Prairie has decided to upgrade the green space between 100 Ave and 99 Ave, just west of the 214 Place.

Previously, this space only housed the City of Grande Prairie sign, but now construction has already begun on a bioswale.

This landscape feature is designed to help slow down stormwater runoff by having some of it absorbed into native plant life and soil, while being visually pleasing for residents

Mayor Clayton called this project a “thoughtful infrastructure investment,” which only adds to a community “that is both functional and attractive.”

As part of this project, temporary lane closures may be required, with construction expected to last all month.
