Grande Prairie athlete named to Biathlon Canada Development Team

Jun 11, 2026 | 6:00 AM

The new development team for Biathlon Canada includes an athlete from Grande Prairie.

Liam Tinworth is one of 11 competitors named to the squad.

The Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection says on its social media page that Tinworth got his start at the Wapiti Nordic Centre and now trains in Canmore.

He first competed internationally during the 2022-23 season. The Sport Connection says he also competed in Norway and the US this past season, and won a bronze medal at the Canadian championships.

Biathlon Canada says in a news release that athletes “within the 2026-27 national program will train within Canada’s training centre environments” and will have a chance to race on several international circuits.
