Arrest made in month-long Muskoseepi Park assaults investigation

Jun 11, 2026 | 2:45 PM

A Grande Prairie teenager is in custody after a month-long investigation into two assaults that took place along the trails in Muskoseepi Park.

On May 6, Grande Prairie RCMP were made aware of two victims attacked with a steel pipe by a man riding his bike on the trails between 68 Ave and 84 Ave.

With help from the General Investigation Section, GPPS, Police Dog Services and a forensic sketch artist, a suspect was arrested yesterday (Wednesday, June 10).

Eighteen-year-old Grande Prairie resident Darius Dafoe had five charges laid against him:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Grande Prairie RCMP GIS Cpl. Kristy White says both “the RCMP and GPPS understand how these violent attacks have impacted the citizens of Grande Prairie, but want to reassure all that we remain committed to serving the city of Grande Prairie and keeping the citizens safe”.

She added that thanks to the “community and citizens of Grande Prairie,” they gathered enough “video surveillance, witness statements or other tips,” that led to this arrest.
