Cowboys home opener, rugby, lacrosse, Ducks Unlimited fundraiser this weekend

Football

The Peace Country Cowboys host the Cold Lake Fighter Jets Saturday in their Alberta Football League home opener.

Kick-off time will be 7:15 p.m. at CKC Field.

Admission cost is $5 per person or $10 for a family. Minor football players get in free.

The Cowboys are 0-1 after opening the season with a 52-7 loss on the road last weekend to the Calgary Gators.

Rugby

The Sirens and Centaurs rugby teams host St. Albert on Saturday.

The Sirens women’s game will start at 1 p.m.

The Centaurs men’s game follows at 3 p.m.

Both will be played at Macklin Field.

Lacrosse 

The Peace Country Honey Badgers Jr. B lacrosse team will visit St. Albert  Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at noon.  

The Honey Badgers are 8-2 so far this season, good for second place in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League standings. 

Ducks Unlimited fundraiser 

Ducks Unlimited Canada will host its Duck and Run fundraiser Saturday at the Boreal Wetland Centre in Evergreen Park. 

Start time will be 2 p.m.  

There will also be a virtual challenge. 

Money raised will support wetland conservation. 

The local fundraising goal is $15,000.
