Jun 20, 2026 | 6:01 AM

Summer officially arrives this weekend.

The Old Farmers Almanac says the Summer Solstice will happen at 2:24 a.m. Sunday.

The Summer Solstice is when the North Pole is at its maximum tilt, says the Almanac.

There are some National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations planned to mark the longest day of the year.

The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is hosting a Pipe Ceremony on Sunday.

It will start at 9:30 a.m. in the Traditional Healing Garden.

Anyone who wants to come is welcome.

The Lesser Slave Lake Metis District is hosting a Family Fun Day on Saturday.

It will go from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Big Fish Bay. Everyone is invited.

There is a wiener roast and a bunch of family activities and games.
