Expect a fiscally restraint budget says GPRC political science professor

A political science professor at GPRC doesn’t expect too much local infrastructure spending in Thursday’s provincial budget.

Dawn Moffat-McMaster says while it is an election budget, the NDP will likely be focusing on fiscal restraint.

“I expect we are going to see some belt-tightening in some areas, I don’t think we are going to see a lot of infrastructure spending. I think we are going to see a lot more restraint in this one in an attempt to get to a much lower deficit like we have seen in previous years.

She does expect money to come to the region in the form of funding to combat rural crime and the opioid crisis adding because there wasn’t much focus on rural Alberta the last election, that could change heading into this one.
