Oilfield company fined after pleading guilty to Occupational Health and Safety Code charge

Jun 25, 2026 | 12:00 PM

The province says an oilfield company has been given a fine in High Prairie court after pleading guilty to an Occupational Health and Safety Code charge.

Apex Well Servicing (2010) Inc. was handed a fine of $144,000 on June 18. Six other charges were withdrawn by the Crown.

A news release from the province says the charge was for failing to provide safeguards if a worker may come into contact with an object thrown from machinery or equipment.

The charges were laid after a February 5, 2024, incident in Slave Lake.

A worker was trying to loosen a valve to reduce air pressure when the valve released.

The worker was hit, resulting in serious injuries.
