Sentence handed down in Hines Creek theft, forgery case

A woman who pleaded guilty to charges related to money going missing from a pair of Hines Creek sports groups has been sentenced in Fairview court.

Barbara Hoffman has been given 90 days in jail, a $200 fine and ordered to pay back $25,000 after pleading guilty to a theft charged related to money going missing from the Hines Creek Figure Skating Club.

She also pleaded guilty to a forgery charge after money was taken from the Hines Creek Minor Hockey Club, for which she was given 14 days in jail and a $100 fine.

This information is from Alberta Justice and has been confirmed by the Chief Crown Prosecutor’s office in Peace River. 

Another charge of theft and one of fraud were withdrawn.

Sentencing took place in Fairview court Wednesday.
