GP couple “won some money” from Lotto 6/49 EXTRA draw

A Grande Prairie couple is up $100,000 thanks to the Lotto 6/49 EXTRA draw from May 2.

Walter and Mona Merkley won after he bought a ticket from the 92 Avenue Circle K in Grande Prairie, and after scanning it had discovered their winnings; exclaiming, “Oh my God, I won some money!”

Walter says his first thought was then to go home and tell his wife Mona, adding “she was thrilled, we have four weddings and a celebration of life this year, so it will help.”

“We want to help out both of our moms, give our son a little extra for the wedding, and put some education savings together for our grandchildren.”
