Alberta Summer Games, football and baseball from the weekend

Alberta Summer Games 

Zone 8 athletes brought home 27 medals from the Alberta Summer Games held over the weekend in Strathcona County. 

That included five gold medals, eight silver, and 14 bronze.  

Five silver medals were won in beach volleyball, and one bronze came in swimming. The rest were captured in athletics. 

Close to 350 athletes from communities all over the Peace made up the Zone 8 team. The full rundown of their results can be found here.

Football

The Peace Country Cowboys won their final home game of the regular season Saturday, beating the Central Alberta Buccaneers 25-5. 

The Cowboys will visit the Buccaneers on Saturday to close out the regular season. 

Baseball Provincials 

A couple of baseball teams from the Peace won the gold medals at Baseball Alberta provincials over the weekend. 

The Beaverlodge Royals Stillwell won the 13U A Tier 1 championship in Leduc. 

The Manning Comets took the 18U A Tier 1 championship in Sedgewick, beating the Sedgewick Steelers 12-8 in the final. 

The Consort Cubs beat the host Grande Prairie Reds 11-10 in the !5U A Tier 3 championship final.
