GPES asking drivers to slow down in construction zones
As construction season rolls on in Grande Prairie, Enforcement Services is reminding drivers to slow down.
GPES says Peace officers routinely encounter drivers “disregarding posted speed limits and other traffic laws;” with a recent enforcement initiative at the 116 Ave and 96 Street construction zone, resulting in a combined 19 tickets and seven warnings in just one hour.
Enforcement Services says the number of tickets issued “in such a short period highlights the need for drivers to pay attention to posted signage, obey speed limits, and adjust their driving behaviour when travelling through construction areas.”
Peace Officer Sergeant Ryan Hoffman adds, “speeding vehicles are one of the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions, injuries, and fatalities on our roads.”
