Invest NW Alberta appoints first independent chair

Invest Northwest Alberta has appointed a former Minister of Finance as its first independent chair.

Travis Toews will be working to strengthen regional collaboration and to advance economic development in the Grande Prairie-Greenview Corridor.

A lifelong resident of the Peace, Toews has decades of leadership experience in businesses, not only as Alberta’s former finance minister but also as president of the Treasury Board and president of the Canadian Cattle Association.

“Our region has everything needed to compete on a national and global stage—abundant natural resources, an incredibly skilled workforce, and communities that understand the value of working together,” said Toews in a news release, adding, “What makes this partnership particularly compelling is its commitment to advancing regional success ahead of municipal boundaries. By speaking with one voice and pursuing opportunities together, we are better positioned to improve competitiveness, attract investment, and create lasting economic benefits across northwest Alberta.”
