Peace Region wilderness influencers to compete in survival competition

Two Peace Region locals will be representing the area in an outdoor survival game.

Shannon McGeough and Nick Carle from Wicked Wilderness will be taking part in the Survival Games in Oregon later this month.

The pair did an interview with 93.1 Big Country’s Lyle West explaining the competition, their expectations and who they are most excited to meet:

They both add that their end goal with this competition is to encourage people to get outdoors; “our goal with Wicked Wilderness is to inspire people to get outside and explore Alberta and beyond safely. We want to help build confidence in the outdoors by sharing hiking reports, backpacking information, essential gear recommendations, trip preparation tips, and encouraging responsible adventure.”

The pair are also looking forward to representing the Peace and during this event, with the hope of someday seeing a northern Alberta expansion.

“We’d also love to see the PNW Survival Games expand into Northern Alberta. The co-founders, Tony and Phil, have already expressed interest in taking the games internationally, so we’re hopeful that one day we could help make Northern Alberta one of those destinations.”

Throughout the two-day competition, Shannon and Nick say they will be documenting the whole thing and sharing it on their social media platforms, for anyone who wants to follow along.
