Perseids meteor shower to peak August 12-13 says Canadian Space Agency

Fans of celestial events might want to find a dark place to be overnight on August 12 and 13. 

The Canadian Space Agency says on its social media page that this is the time the annual Perseids meteor shower will reach its peak. 

This is the time of year the Earth passes through the debris left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet. 

The meteor shower is bits of that debris burning up in Earth’s atmosphere. 

The space agency says if the sky is clear, the best way to see the meteors is in the darkest spot possible, away from city lights. 

Meteors could be visible on any clear night until  August 24.
