"Rowan is a fighter"

Make-A-Wish Foundation grants local boy’s wish

Aug 13, 2026 | 1:02 PM

A Grande Prairie child had a visit from local RCMP and City Police last Friday to help grant his wish.

Six-year-old Rowan “is just like any other boy his age, as he likes to roughhouse with his older brother, play games and ride his bike,” but has been battling leukemia since December of 2022.

Recently, he rang the bell after completing his treatment for leukemia and will now be going to Cancun with his family, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The foundation says receiving his wish was one of the things that gave Rowan strength to continue fighting, and after careful consideration, he chose a trip to Mexico to swim in the ocean.

The cherry on top was GP RCMP and police attending his home to present him with his wish box, as he wants to be a police officer when he grows up.
