AHS addressing ED disruptions at Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital
Alberta Health Service says most advisories issued for the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital Emergency Department are due to temporary clinical personnel.
The ED says the advisories are done as a last resort, and plans are always put in place to ensure support for residents through surrounding healthcare centres like the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and the Virtual Emergency Physician Program.
AHS is says it working to actively recruit additional physicians to Beaverlodge through several initiatives, including locum programs, the Northern Incentive Program, working closely with community partners, and exploring alternative supports like live nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants to support the ED in the Future.
In June alone, AHS acknowledges the Beaverlodge ED has experienced 14 disruptions, with one planned to begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21.
