50-80mm of rain expected to fall in the Peace

A heavy rainfall warning is in effect for the region, with 50 to 80 millimetres expected over the next two days.

Environment Canada says this evening conditions are expected to be at their worst, with some area’s possibly receiving 100 millimetres by Friday, Sept. 4.

EC says water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas could make driving difficult and suggests not driving in flooded roadways, and to watch for washouts, creeks and overflowing culverts.

Localized flooding that can cause damage to private properties is also possible.
