North Peace Navigators to sit out 2026-27 NWJHL season

Sep 5, 2026 | 6:00 AM

The North Peace Navigators will not ice a team for the 2026-27 Northwest Junior Hockey League season.

In a statement posted to social media, the Board of Directors says it has asked for a leave of absence.

The statement says, “Following the conclusion of our training camp, it became clear that we do not currently do not have the player numbers or depth required to responsibly ice a competitive Junior B hockey team.”

The board says they did have a team ready to return after last season, but say that “regional expansion, player movement and several late changes in player commitments” lowered the number of available players.

The statement says the organization will stay operational and use this year to rebuild for a return in 2027-28.
