Vocal opposition turns out for AI data centre town hall in Grande Prairie
There was some loud and vocal opposition to the idea of data centres at the provincial government’s AI data centre town hall held in Grande Prairie Friday night (Sept. 11). Several hundred people turned out.
The questions asked included whether Albertans would be given a chance to say no, if Albertans would get an ownership stake, and what safeguards are in place, the last one drawing some loud applause.
Some in the crowd heckled. One person even shouted, “You’re not listening!” while Minister of Technology and Innovation Nate Glubish was speaking.
Attendee Lance Tyrer was glad to see the opposition come out and ask questions.
