Public Safety Communications Centre relocated ahead of GPPS takeover
The City of Grande Prairie’s Public Safety Communications Centre has moved out of City on 99th.
This was done in preparation for the Grande Prairie Police Service to officially take over policing jurisdiction from the RCMP on Oct. 21.
As part of this move, the City says the PSCC has been relocated to a new space designed to support its growing role in regional public safety communications;” as their responsibilities will now include dispatch and call-in take work for City police, Enforcement Services and Mobile outreach, alongside its current emergency communication duties.
Mayor Clayton called this “another step in building a regionally connected public safety system, with people from our community helping their neighbours when they need it most.”
