2026 Voices of Peace Conference taking place in Grande Prairie Sept. 19

An annual conference discussing social issues will be in Grande Prairie Saturday, Sept. 19.

The 2026 Voices of Peace Conference will be the 11th year Grande Prairie has taken part in the national event, which aims to promote peace, cross-cultural harmony, and social cohesion.

Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, the conference brings together community leaders, professionals, and citizens to share and explore practical solutions to social issues.

The theme for this year’s conference is Building a Caring Society: Perspectives on Love, Empathy & Community.

This year’s participants and the perspectives they will represent include:

  • Indigenous traditions—Elder Loretta Parenteau-English
  • Bahá’í social work—Mr. David Rhody
  • Christianity — Pastor Ryan Duford
  • Islam — Imam Umair Khan
  • Secular philosophy — Dr. Carrie Dennett

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Duff Crerar.

The discussion is happening Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Northwestern Polytechnic.
