Indigenous Support Line remains open for those who need culturally-grounded care

Primary Care Alberta is reminding everyone that its Indigenous Support Line, which offers culturally-grounded care, is available.

The line is open Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 1-844-944-4744 or through 811.

“Supporting culturally-grounded and respectful care is an important part of reconciliation. The Indigenous Support Line is a free telephone service available to First Nations, Métis and Inuit to help navigate the health care system and connect with culturally grounded care,” PCA notes in a release.

“The Indigenous Support Line connects callers with Indigenous Listeners who provide confidential, culturally informed support and guidance. Whether callers need help accessing services, addressing concerns, connecting with Indigenous cultural supports, or finding assistance for mental health and addiction challenges, Indigenous Listeners are here to help. Indigenous Listeners can also connect callers with translation services in 23 Indigenous languages, helping reduce barriers to care and ensuring more Albertans can access the support they need.”
