Mustard Seed accepting donations to fund Thanksgiving meals

Oct 9, 2026 | 2:54 PM

With the holiday weekend upon us, the Mustard Seed will host a Thanksgiving meal for those experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Across seven cities, including Grande Prairie, the Mustard Seed provided 965,000 meals in 2025 and will be serving Thanksgiving meals to all shelter guests, clients and residents this weekend.

Anyone who would like to help fund the Mustard Seed’s efforts can visit theseed.ca/thanksgiving, with every $5.38 donated covering an entire meal.

The Mustard Seed adds that “these gatherings create opportunities for connection and belonging for people who may otherwise feel forgotten or alone during the holidays,” and can be a “first step toward longer-term support.”

This year, many Thanksgiving volunteer spots have already been filled, but anyone interested in helping out, “ongoing volunteer support in all of our cities is always welcome,” and interested residents can visit their website for more information.
