Night Light Walk fundraiser set for tonight

A fundraiser for Odyssey House will take place this evening. 

The Night Light Walk will leave the Amphitheatre in Muskoseepi Park at 7 p.m. People who get there by 6:15 can hear what organizers call “inspiring stories.” 

The lantern-lit walk will then wind its way through the park and the Avondale neighbourhood. 

Money raised will go to Serenity Place, the second-stage shelter at Odyssey House. The local fundraising goal is $20,000.

The walk is one of 15 to be held across Canada. They are supported by the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. 

A news release from the organization says intimate partner violence has gone up 14 per cent since 2018, with most of it directed at women and girls. 

The same release says 148 women and girls killed by intimate partner violence in 2025 in Canada.
