Pembina Pipelines is providing $40,000 over the next three years to support the Grande Prairie Regional Career Collegiate.

In a release from the Peace Wapiti Public School Division, they say the funding will be used to expand career-connected learning experiences for students across the region.

They add that the $120,000 will be used in two areas:

  • Acquisition and enhancement of collegiate equipment trailers to support mobile, hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Dual Credit tuition support, helping students earn post-secondary credits and industry-recognized training while still enrolled in high school.

On top of the funding, Pembina has “committed to supporting educational experiences through industry engagement opportunities, including guest speakers, facility tours and, where possible, job-site visits.”

PWPSD added, “These experiences will help students gain valuable insight into career pathways and workforce opportunities.”

Pembina’s Ryley Hommy, who is a supervisor in Grande Prairie, said, “we know that when students have the chance to see and experience the real-world applications of their studies, it opens doors for them.”

“By supporting GPRCC, we want to give students the hands-on exposure they need to confidently build their future.”

Moving forward, three local school districts’ students will benefit from this funding; Peace Wapiti Public School Division, Grande Prairie Public School Division and Grande Prairie & District Catholic School Division.
