Nominations open for 2027 County of Grande Prairie farm family award

County of Grande Prairie residents are invited to nominate a farming family that has made significant agricultural contributions.

The 2027 Farm Family of the Year Award will recognize a family that uses sustainable farming practices, finds innovative ways to meet challenges, and makes lasting contributions to their rural communities.

“Our farm families plan around short seasons, unpredictable weather, and markets they can’t control, yet they still find time to coach the hockey team, organize the fall supper, and lend a hand or a piece of equipment when a neighbour needs it,” says County of Grande Prairie Reeve Amanda McDonald. “This award is an opportunity to say thank you to the people who do so much for our communities. All it takes to get started is a few minutes to nominate someone who deserves to be recognized.”

The winning family will be showcased online and recognized during the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show in March.
