A Grande Prairie Public Library program is receiving provincial recognition.

GPPL’s free Baby Rave program started in 2025 to provide infant- and toddler-specific programming, as requested by the community, as existing story times are consistently at capacity.

According to GPPL, “the program combines music and movement with sensory play, giving children opportunities to explore rhythm and sound, practise motor skills and interact with others.”

“Colourful lights, bubbles and nursery rhyme remixes set the scene for a dance party designed for GPPL’s youngest visitors.”

Library Director Hailewy McCullough adds that “Baby Rave is a place where toddlers can be toddlers, and where families know that their energy is welcome.”

The first annual Baby Rave brought out 122 families, with an increase to 233 for its Halloween event later in the year.

Now, GPPL has received the 2026 Ministers Award for addressing “community needs and providing a direct benefit to the public.”

Anyone interested in attending the award-winning event; GPPL is hosting its Baby Boo Bash for kids three and under on Thursday, Oct. 29, at both 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

More details can be found on the library’s website.
