Invest Grande Prairie seeking local business owners input with online survey

Oct 30, 2026 | 2:29 PM

The City of Grande Prairie is inviting local business owners to share their thoughts on challenges they’ve experienced.

Invest Grande Prairie has launched an online survey as part of small business week to give business owners the chance to help the city better understand how they can support continued growth.

Invest Grande Prairie Director Rebecca Dodd says business owners can complete the survey by sharing their challenges, experiences, and priorities.

“And this is to get some feedback about how they are experiencing doing business in the City of Grande Prairie right now,” says Dodd. “What are some of those opportunities or challenges? And to really find out if there’s anything the city can do to help support them in continuing to operate within the region.”

Dodd says the survey results will be shared with Grande Prairie City Council during budget deliberations next month.

“Just to give them a sense of where our business owners are seeing opportunities or where they’re experiencing some challenges,” she says. “The results and conversations will be ongoing. It’s an opportunity for us to continue to engage and continue those conversations with our businesses.”

She says the survey is an extension of their Small Business Week Walk, where they met with many small businesses in person from Oct. 19-25.

“According to our business licenses, we have approximately 3,000 businesses within the city,” she says. “Just over 70 per cent of those would be qualified as a small business. We want to hit as many of those as possible, to make sure that we’re really getting a good understanding of what they’re experiencing.”

The survey is available at the city’s engagement website until Friday, Nov. 6.
