Fairview facility gets $9,000 grant

Dec 15, 2017 | 2:55 PM

The province has announced a $9,000 grant for a Fairview facility that helps people impacted by family violence.

The money will be used to train staff at the Crossroads Resource Centre and Women’s Shelter to support the women and children that come there, trying to escape a violent home environment.

Staff will learn about things like how people respond differently to trauma, and direct and indirect links between family violence and mental illness, disease, and addictions.

“The Status of Women grant is a valuable contribution to our continued work to provide the best possible services to our clients,” Crossroads Executive Director Wendy Biegel says.

“This training will prepare our staff with new knowledge and skills to better understand and help the women we serve.”
