City of GP makes changes to residential snow clearing

Nov 4, 2026 | 6:02 AM

The City of Grande Prairie has made changes to their residential snow removal program.

While the city will remain on its Week A/Week B rotation, several neighbourhoods will switch to a different week.

  • Kensington moves from Thursday Week A to Thursday Week B.
  • Crystal Ridge, Lakeland, Crystal Lake Estates, Copperwood, and Easthaven move from Friday Week B to Friday Week A.
  • Northridge, Royal Oaks, Arbour Hills, and Gateway/Westgate East move from Friday Week A to Friday Week B.

Additionally, going forward, snow collected from residential streets will be pushed past the curb and stored on the city boulevards.

Going forward, snow collected on residential streets will be stored on city boulevards, between the curb and property line, and on a designated sidewalk, with all residential streets having one sidewalk kept clear for use.

For fall 2026 to spring 2027, the snow will be stored on the sidewalk next to even-numbered addresses and will switch to odd-numbered addresses next winter season.

“Changes to residential snow clearing this winter are intended to improve how our streets and neighbourhoods function while maintaining safe access for residents, pedestrians, and emergency services,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “I encourage residents to review what has changed, check their clearing schedule, and watch for the Snow Clearing Guide arriving in November. Please keep the guide handy throughout the season, and thank you for your patience, understanding, and for helping crews work safely and efficiently.”

Residents can check the updated schedule at the city’s website to confirm if their neighbourhood’s schedule changed.
