MEDICINE HAT — Matt Dunstone’s Winnipeg-based foursome scored twice in the seventh end and stole a single in the eighth to beat Yannick Schwaller of Switzerland 5-3 on Saturday night to advance to the men’s final of the P & H Masters Grand Slam of Curling event.

Dunstone, third Colton Lott, second Mark Nichols and lead Ryan Harnden, trailed 2-1 after four ends and 3-2 after six before grabbing the lead in the seventh.

Dunstone will play Bruce Mouat’s Scotland crew in Sunday’s final. Mouat got past Philipp Hoesli of Switzerland 7-3 in Saturday’s other semifinal.

Mouat scored twice in the first end, gave up singles in the second and third, then scored three in the fourth to go ahead 5-2.

Miku Nihira of Sapporo, Japan, punched her ticket to Sunday’s women’s final with a 6-4 win over Selena Sturmay of Edmonton.

Sturmay — with third Danielle Schmiemann, second Dezaray Hawes and lead Paige Papley — led 2-1 after three ends, but Nihira took control in the fourth by scoring three.

Nihira will play Isabella Wrana’s crew from Sweden in Sunday’s final after Wrana edged Ikue Kitazawa of Nagano, Japan, 7-6 in the other women’s semifinal.
