MLA rejects the findings in a report on the closure of Autumn Lodge

Dec 15, 2017 | 1:52 PM

A report from a Special Inspector into the planned closure of Autumn Lodge in Berwyn has found the decision was based on sound planning and financial analysis.

The province ordered the report after an uproar when the closure was announced earlier this year.

The North Peace Housing Board has this information in a posting on its website.

That same posting says that Board is, quote, “truly sorry for hardships for how this transpired and the hardships it has caused.”

It adds it will be working on a communications strategy for dealing with residents and communities.

Dunvegan-Central Peace Notley MLA Marg McCuaig-Boyd says she cannot accept the findings of the report.

She says in a Facebook post she is “troubled” the Foundation decided to close the senior’s home “without a plan in place.”

McCuaig-Boyd says how quickly the decision was made is, quote, “unacceptable, as was the lack of communication behind it.”
