Multiple vehicles involved in crashes on 100th street

UPDATE: According to the County of Grande Prairie’s Facebook page, Range Road 63 between Highway 43X and Township Road 724 is also closed at this time due to a motor vehicle accident. 

Emergency crews are on scene after several multi vehicle crashes along 100th street in North Grande Prairie this morning. 
 
One caller to our newsroom said over 20 vehicles are involved, along with several trailers and semi trucks. 
 
The trouble area is the southbound lane of 100th street, North of 132nd avenue. 
 
Callers say thick fog in the area, coupled with icy roads, likely contributed to the crashes. 
 
The road is completey blocked off at this time, and drivers coming into Grande Prairie from the north are asked to find alternative ways to get around the accident area.
