Next week’s Calgary City Teachers Convention will not hear an address from a convicted murderer.
Andrew Evans, a former drug counsellor, had been scheduled to take part in a panel session on overcoming addiction.
But on a Twitter post last night, Alberta Teachers Association president Greg Jeffery said the session had been cancelled after reviewing concerns about the address and consulting with convention officials.
Evans was convicted of killing a woman in Vancouver in 2007, but he was paroled and moved back to Calgary seven years later.
